Alle CD/USB-Images sind gleichzeitig Installations-Medien und Live-Systeme, welche zur Wartung oder Reparatur benutzt werden können. Die ISO-Dateien können sowohl auf CD gebrannt als auch mit Programmen wie ''dd'' auf USB-Sticks kopiert werden. Die ''dual''-Medien können sowohl für i686 als auch für x86_64-Installationen verwendet werden.

Wir empfehlen die Verwendung der ''netinstall''-Images um Arch Linux zu installieren. Mit diesen Medien bekommst Du stets die aktuellen Paket-Versionen. Für eine Installation ohne Internetzugang sind die ''core''-Images gedacht. Diese enthalten alle Pakete des ''[core]''-Repositoriums, so dass das Basis-System offline installiert werden kann.
